just moved into the boarding school yest, this building was built for a motel/inn at first, so it's quite fine. from what i heard, there are very few local students here as it is afterall, an international college. most of the students here are asians, and mostly chinese, judging from the looks of it, so my chinese will probably improve lol -_-" anw the whole of next week will be orientation and lessons will start proper on 21 aug.

right now i'm the only one in my room, as my roommates have not arrived yet. so i think this will be my second night alone, there's so little yang qi here =( my parents have checked into an inn near the hostel and they're leaving canada on mon. by right, i should be fine with this. after all, i'm accustomed to solitude? since being the only child, i've been trained to be alone but not lonely. but sadly, i do feel lonely. back home, whenever i was alone and lonely, i just had to go online and my friends would be there, just a click away, and i know they're always near, as i'll probably see them in school the next day or sth. but it's so different here.. it's so hard to even find access to the internet and also, the different time zones. but i know, like stars, friends will always be there, right? haha.

well at least i have my pillow! yup finally bought a pillow XD yay!

(i have very limited internet access and very poor connection these few days. so if i suddenly vanish when i'm online, it probably means i've mean disconnected and can't reconnect lol. very sorry!)

Stages in the cycle of cross-cultural adaptation:

1. The initial period is one in which everything is new, exciting and interesting. It is fun to explore the new environment.
2. After some time you may find diffculties in adjusting to the new culture more evident and stressful. You may miss certain foods and things you have at home that are not available to you now. Many students feel isolated, irritated, bewildered, depressed or uncomfortable.
3. It is common that individuals who move to a new and different culture come to a point where they reject the people of that country and withdraw into themselves.
4. When a better understanding of the host culture is acquired, you will begin to feel more comfortable in your environment.
5. At this point you are able to interact effectively in the new cultural environment. You find it esay to move between the two cultures.

just wanna say something. isnt it quite scary to see people mugging now (ok i know promos is like 7 weeks away. there isnt much time. time is running out.yes. i know) but i still think it is too early to start now. ok maybe this is not the usual me to start so early but i feel like im missing out something if i dont get started. hmm anyway according to my plan i hope to start in time which is after 3 more weeks. 1 month before promos. cant be bothered to flip open a book or tut to study now.
